The Artist
"I've been chasing glimpses of blue through the trees my whole life."
Nicki is a South Carolina native who grew up with the Blue Ridge always somewhere on the horizon — close enough to love, far enough to long for. Those mountains held a special place in her heart long before she ever picked up a brush.
She came to painting on her own terms. Self-taught and driven purely by curiosity, she fell in love with oils — with the way they move, the way they layer, the way they let you build a place from nothing. She started recreating the spots she'd loved for years: the ridgelines, the hollows, the particular blue that settles over the mountains at dusk.
She painted for friends. She painted for family. And somewhere along the way, those pieces became something more — a collection, a calling, a name: A Blue Ridge Affair. Every piece is original, painted in her home, just paint and canvas and the particular light of a particular day.
The Work
Original Only
Every painting is one of a kind. Nicki doesn't reproduce her work — when a piece sells, it's gone. That's intentional. A few select pieces are available as prints — ask about availability.
Oil & Acrylic
She works primarily in oils and acrylics on canvas or linen, sometimes layering both. The texture is part of the painting.
Made at Home
Painted in her home in the Blue Ridge, often with the windows open and the actual mountains in view. The place is in the work.
Inspiration
Growing up in South Carolina, the Blue Ridge was always just out of reach — a smudge of blue on the horizon, glimpsed through the trees on a clear day. Nicki spent years drawn to those mountains before she ever really understood why.
When she started painting, she knew exactly what she wanted to capture. Not a postcard version of the mountains — the real thing. The way the light changes everything. The way a familiar ridge can look completely different depending on the season, the weather, the hour. She's been painting it ever since, and she's still not done.
